Membership

Membership in the New Mexico Counseling Association is open to persons with primary responsibilities or interests in counseling or human development. They recognize that all people need help and advisement as they experience life’s normal stages and transitions. Counselors and human development specialists help people of all ages, cultures, and physical capabilities reach their maximum potential in their personal lives, education, and career.

Membership Fees

Professional/Regular membership includes one division for $70. If more than one division is desired, add $20 for each additional division. Retired/Student membership includes one division for $35. If more than one division is desired, add $20 for each additional division. Memberships can be renewed annually. Members will receive renewal notices before the anniversary date of their joining the association. A record of your membership will be emailed upon completion of registration. Please note that membership fees are not refundable.

Regular/Professional Membership Fees

1 Division = $70
2 Divisions = $90

Student/Retired Membership Fees

1 Division = $35
2 Divisions = $55


Four Types Of Individual Voting Membership:

  • Professional members: Professional members hold a master’s degree or higher in counseling or a closely related field from an accredited institution when the degree was awarded by one of the regional accrediting bodies recognized by the Council on Postsecondary Accreditation. Professional members must present proof of academic credentials upon request.
  • Regular members: are individuals whose interests and activities are consistent with those of the association but are not qualified for professional membership.
  • Retired members: are eligible for continued membership at a reduced fee if they have retired from the counseling profession.
  • Students: are eligible for membership if they are enrolled in a minimum of six graduate credit hours or nine undergraduate credit hours per semester leading toward a degree in counseling or a counseling-related field. Verification by the student and the student’s professor is required.
